A One- Part Pumpkin with Personality Clay Class

Pumpkin Folk is a joyful one-part clay sculpting class where pumpkins become characters. Inspired by folklore, harvest imagery, and a touch of whimsy, students will create a pumpkin figure that may feature a playful face, a witchy personality, or a character all their own.

Sculpting the Form
You’ll fully handbuild your pumpkin folk sculpture from start to finish. Instruction will guide you through building a hollow form, shaping facial features, posture, and expressive details such as hats, hair, or subtle gestures. Emphasis is placed on character, proportion, and letting your piece evolve naturally. If desired, you will be guided into opening up the bottom and add a dish to hold a votive. 

Surface Interest
You will be guided in how to add surface interest using colored slips that enhance expression and personality. We’ll focus on techniques that complement texture and form while allowing your pumpkin folk to truly come to life.

This class is designed for adults who are brand new to clay as well as those with some experience. Instruction is supportive and playful, with an emphasis on creative exploration, storytelling, and enjoying the process rather than striving for perfection.

All classes at Marvelous Mud Pottery Studio are designed for adults.

Class Info

• Instruction will lead students to each hand-build their own pieces. All levels welcome.

• Adults Only (18 years and up) Only registered students are permitted in the studio.

• One Class... Hand-build pieces with wet clay. Add surface interest with colored slips.

• Included: all clay and slips, use of tools and equipment, 2 kiln firings, guided instruction.
