A new year. A new rhythm. A vision uniquely yours!

Every new year invites us to reflect, imagine, and discover the rhythm we want to carry into the months ahead. This year, we're taking our annual Vision Workshop in an exciting new direction, creating a ceramic Vision Drum that brings together sculptural clay, personal symbolism, and the beautiful power of sound!

Rather than simply envisioning the year ahead, we'll create something that gives our intentions a voice!

Rachelle will guide you through a three-part creative journey, beginning with the construction of your own ceramic drum. Through thoughtful reflection, expressive surface design, and meaningful imagery, you'll explore the hopes, intentions, and personal stories you wish to carry into 2027.

As in previous Vision Workshops, inspirational reflection materials will be emailed prior to our first gathering to help you arrive with ideas already beginning to take shape.

Part 1: Give Your Vision Form | January 16 & 17

Our journey begins in clay! We'll handbuild the ceramic bodies of our drums, exploring form, texture, and sculptural details that reflect our individual visions. Each drum will become a personal expression of the year ahead, with plenty of opportunity for creative interpretation.

Our goal is to complete the ceramic construction to the greenware stage by the end of the weekend, allowing time for drying, firing, glazing and firing again before our next gathering.

Part 2: Give Your Vision a Voice | March 13

With our ceramic drums fired and ready, we'll gather again to transform our sculptures into playable instruments!

Using Mylar film, we'll create and custom-fit a drumhead to each unique ceramic form. This approach allows us the freedom to explore individual shapes and designs while creating a responsive surface that brings our drums to life through sound and rhythm.

This is the exciting moment when our ceramic creations begin to find their own voices!

Part 3: Find Your Rhythm Together | April 17

And then comes the magic!

We'll gather once more for our very own Vision Drum Circle, bringing our completed drums together for an experience of sound, rhythm, connection, and celebration.

Each drum will have its own voice, just as each of us brings a different story, intention, and creative spirit to our Marvelous Mud community.

What began as an individual vision becomes a shared experience, a wonderful reminder that while we each follow our own rhythm, we are also part of something much larger.

Your vision. Your rhythm. Your voice.
