In-Person Pottery Classes ~ Handbuilding

DIG IN: Pinching... Explore the technique of pinching clay into shape, a foundation skill used commonly to create bowls, mugs, and vases and is often the first step in creating sculptures. In this class, Diana will teach how to pinch a pot/bowl and carve it to have a "story telling" surface design.

Techniques taught...

• Pinching a form
• Carving a surface design
• Attaching clay segments with scoring and slipping
• Glazing to highlight the detail and texture.

2-Part Classes are a great way to dip your toes into pottery and see if you like working with clay, plus you end with a fabulous bowl!

Learn basic hand-building techniques and make a one-of-a-kind piece out of stoneware clay!

Class Info

• Instruction will lead students to each hand-build their own piece. All levels welcome.

• Adults Only (18 years and up), Registration required. No Walk-ins.
  

• First Class... Hand-build piece and embellish surface design. Students are encouraged to vary from demo style and incorporate self-expression.

• Second Class... glaze piece that has been fired to bisque** **Pick up finished piece the following week.

• Included: all clay and glazes, use of tools and equipment, kiln firings, guided instruction.

• We start classes promptly on time. Class Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please email with any questions.
