Plant-Stained Paper Workshop

Step into a beautiful, nature-infused process where flowers and leaves reveal their hidden colors in the most unexpected ways. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll press, bundle, and gently boil plant materials between layers of cotton paper—allowing organic pigments to emerge in soft, spontaneous, and completely one-of-a-kind patterns.

Each piece is a surprise. The results are delicate, layered, and absolutely lovely—perfect for journals, stationery, mixed media work, or even framed as wall art.

Together, we’ll explore how to thoughtfully design your paper layouts using a variety of plant materials including flowers, leaves, and select edibles. You’ll learn what makes certain plants stain beautifully, how textures transfer, and how subtle shifts in process create different outcomes.

This guided experience walks you step-by-step through:

  • Selecting and preparing plant materials

  • Folding and bundling your papers

  • Designing layered compositions

  • Boiling three unique paper sets

  • Revealing your finished pieces with a bit of ceremony and delight

We’ll also discuss successful plant combinations, variables that influence results, and creative ways to continue exploring this process on your own.

To complete your experience, you’ll:

  • Hand-stitch a small book using Rachelle’s signature altered French Link stitch

  • Mount two of your favorite pages on mat board, ready to frame as artwork

You’ll leave with your finished pieces, instructional resources for continuing at home, and access to Rachelle Eason’s private Plant-Stained Paper community for ongoing inspiration and support.

This is a workshop rooted in curiosity, creativity, and quiet magic—a lesser-known art form that invites you to slow down, experiment, and discover beauty in the unexpected.
