Make Ceramic Candles and a Chiminea Candle Holder - 4 Class Project

Learn basic hand-building techniques and make one-of-a-kind pieces to give or keep out of stoneware clay!

This special edition course is a fabulous way to learn about clay while creating beautifully scented poured ceramic candles and a votive sized chiminea.

*Our 4-week class is a prerequisite for invitation to our Marvelous Mud Membership. As a special opportunity, this course will count as that prerequisite. Please see below for more info.

Class Info

• Instruction will lead students to each hand-build their own candle holder vessels plus a votive sized chiminea with stoneware clay. Students will also learn how to mix potions of scented soy wax and pour complementary candles into their handmade candle holders. All levels welcome.

• Adults Only (18 years and up) Only registered students are permitted in the studio.

• First Class... Hand-build three candle cups and embellish surface design. Students are encouraged to vary from demo style and incorporate self-expression.

• Second Class...Hand-build a votive sized chiminea and embellish surface design. This piece will fire to speckled brownstone stoneware without glaze. Students are again encouraged to vary from demo style and incorporate self-expression.

• Third Class - Glaze candle cups that have been fired to bisque.

• Fourth Class - Mix up soy wax candles with choice of fragrances and pour into fired ceramic cups. Candles will need to harden.
  

• **Pick up finished pieces the following week. Please note that candles need to cure for 2 weeks before burning to maximize fragrance throw.
  

• Included: all clay and glazes, all candle making materials, use of tools and equipment for clay and candle making, kiln firings, guided instruction.

• We start classes promptly on time. Class Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please email with any questions.

At the end of the 4 Week Course, there are three options...

1. If there is an available spot, you may be invited to move up to Marvelous Mud Monthly Studio Membership that offers 4 Weekly 3 Hour Instructional Classes and 1 Monthly 3 Hour Open Studio. 2. You may be invited to take another 4 Week Course if no spots are available in other classes or if you desire to not commit to the membership. 
   
   
3. Or... because class dynamics are of utmost importance to ensuring everyone has a good experience both with clay and with the small group, we may decide that it is not a good fit for moving on together.
   

Moving in to a Marvelous Mud Monthly Studio Membership spot depends on availability as well as class dynamics. Wheel throwing is only available in the Monthly Studio Membership.
