Create a mug that feels less like a basic pottery project and more like a little piece of functional art!

In this 2-part clay class, We will guide you through handbuilding your own Artisan Mug from start to finish. Begin with a simple mug form, then make it completely your own through shape, handle design, carved or dimensional imagery, texture, and decorative details.

Go botanical. Abstract. Whimsical. Graphic. Create a face, a flower, a favorite motif, or simply explore pattern and texture. The project is approachable for a complete beginner, while offering plenty of creative possibilities for those who already have some clay experience.

Part 1 | Build: Handbuild your mug, add the handle, and develop your surface design using carving, texture, appliqué, and other decorative techniques.

Part 2 | Glaze: Return after the first firing to bring your design to life with glaze. We will guide you through color choices and application techniques that complement the details of your individual mug.

No pottery experience is necessary. We provide the clay, tools, glazes, firings, instruction, and plenty of creative inspiration.

Your finished piece: One handcrafted, food-safe Artisan Mug that is completely your own.

Please note: This is a 2-part class. Registration includes both class dates, and attendance at both sessions is necessary to complete your piece.

All classes at Marvelous Mud Pottery Studio are designed for adults.

Members may use specific Member Discount Code for this class (found in Communities) if using their own clay. Discount Code must be used at checkout. No refunds will be given full registration.

Class Info

• Instruction will lead students to each hand-build their own pieces. All levels welcome.

• Adults Only (18 years and up) Only registered students are permitted in the studio.

• Two Classes... Class 1: Hand-build pieces with wet clay. Class 2: Glaze bisque fired piece.

• Included: all clay and glazes, use of tools and equipment, 2 kiln firings, guided instruction.

• We start classes promptly on time. Class Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. No make-ups for missed classes. Please email with any questions.
