Member-Exclusive Ceramic Sculpture Workshop

Rooted in Stone is an immersive sculpture workshop focused on designing and assembling a multi-part ceramic work mounted onto a reclaimed roof slate tile. In this workshop, members will plan, build, and fit multiple ceramic components that interlock and flow together, creating the visual effect of a single, continuous sculptural form.

Students will be guided through the process of thinking in segments—designing each clay element to relate to the others in scale, movement, and surface—while maintaining a cohesive overall composition. Emphasis will be placed on intentional planning, joinery strategies, and structural considerations so that individual pieces align cleanly and mount securely to the slate surface.

Though constructed in separate parts, the finished sculpture will read as unified and seamless, encouraging a deeper understanding of how complex works can be built thoughtfully and methodically. This workshop supports members ready to slow down, problem-solve, and work with clay in a more architectural and contemplative way.

Rooted in Stone invites you to explore permanence, connection, and continuity—creating a sculptural piece that feels grounded, deliberate, and made to endure.
