Sculpting Gentle Animal Forms in Clay

***This sculpt will be size restricted to accommodate drying and firing to bisque prior to Glaze Day in November. Piece will not exceed 8" in any direction.*** 

Step into a more contemplative approach to clay in this sculpture workshop where we will be inspired by natural forms, quiet storytelling, and simplified design.

In Woodland & Wild Companions, you’ll create a softly rounded animal form ... perhaps a fox, owl, elephant, turtle, whale... paired with a small symbolic companion nestled within or alongside it. This companion might be a bird, moon, star, shell, or another meaningful form that adds a subtle narrative to your piece.

Rather than focusing on detailed realism, this workshop emphasizes:

• simplified, sculptural forms

• gentle gesture and posture

• the use of negative space

• texture and surface over decoration

• finishing techniques to emphasize texture.

Guided by Rachelle's signature teaching way, you will create to your own expression, while learning how to build rounded forms, refine curves, and create a sense of connection between your primary form and its companion element.

The result is a piece that feels both personal and timeless; a small “guardian” or quiet presence shaped by your own creative voice.

This workshop is ideal for:

• those wanting to explore a more artistic and expressive approach to clay

• members interested in sculpture and form development

• anyone drawn to meaningful, symbolic work
